Hand Washing ~ Q & A

Q: After meals you wash your hands and due to non-availability of towel you shake your hands to remove the water as much as possible. What makes water remove in this process?

A: When wet hand is moved, the contact force between the skin and water makes water move along with the skin. Now, when the hand is stopped suddenly just before taking it back the water continues to move due to inertia and tends to detach from the hand. The same process is repeated.
